Healthy Eating

A healthy, well-balanced diet, inclusive of all food groups, is vital to minimise your risk of developing heart disease, and optimising your heart health following a cardiac event or surgery. A healthy diet will also assist to minimise and/or control other risk factors such as cholesterol, weight, and blood pressure.

It is encouraged to include a variety of foods in your daily diet, including:

  • Whole grains.
  • Lean meat, chicken, and oily fish.
  • A variety of different fruits and vegetables.
  • Dairy and dairy products.
  • Vegetable and seed oils.
  • Nuts and seeds.
  • Legumes and lentils.
